Description
When using Retroarch on my built-in macbook pro display, the colors look good. However, when moving the Retroarch window to an external non-HDR display, the colors on N64 games using Mupen64Plus-Next (have not tried others) are too washed out.
Internal display looks good:
External display (set to PC gamma and the following brightness and contrast) seems washed-out:
I seem to remember that there was a gamma setting in Retroarch, but it appears to have disappeared.
Expected behavior
When on external display, expect the colors to be closer to the built-in one.
Steps to reproduce the bug
- Load game using Mupen64Plus-Next
- Look at colors while on internal display
- Drag Retroarch to external non-HDR and compare them.

Research direction
Start by reproducing the color difference described on macOS 15.4.1 with an M1 Pro MacBook Pro, an external non-HDR display, RetroArch 1.15.0, and the Mupen64Plus-Next core. Done means colors on the external display are closer to those on the built-in display, with the relevant behavior verified against the listed reproduction steps.
