Description

Is there an existing issue for this?
  • This is a bug in RetroArch frontend
  • I have searched the existing issues
Description

When I start the task of downloading thumbnails through the "Playlist Thumbnails Updater" feature, the downloads stop when the RetroArch window is minimized.

I am running KDE Wayland, so I suspect this might be a Wayland specific issue, but I did not check on other desktops.

Expected behavior

No response

Steps to reproduce the bug
  1. Start the thumbnails download of a playlist through the "Playlist Thumbnails Updater" menu.
  2. Minimize RetroArch.
  3. Wait a while and observe that no network activity happens and the download is at the same spot as you left it.
  4. When you restore the window, observe that network activity goes back up again and the download continues.

Research direction

Start by reproducing the issue through the "Playlist Thumbnails Updater" menu on KDE Wayland, then trace how the download behaves when the RetroArch window is minimized. Compare minimized and restored-window behavior and verify that thumbnail downloads continue while minimized without regressing when the window is restored.
