Description

First and foremost consider this:

  • Only RetroArch bugs should be filed here. Not core bugs or game bugs
  • This is not a forum or a help section, this is strictly developer oriented

Description

On iPhone 11 Pro when playing content, pressing the menu button causes the content to freeze for 10-15 seconds before opening the menu. It also takes a very long time to open the app initially. This occurs when pressing the menu button on the touchscreen or the menu toggle hotkey on a controller.

Expected behavior

Pressing the menu button or menu toggle hotkey should open the menu button instantly

Actual behavior

Pressing the menu button causes content to freeze for 10-15 seconds before opening the menu

Steps to reproduce the bug
  1. Install retroarch from the app store and open it
  2. Load any content
  3. Press the touchscreen menu button or the menu hotkey on an attached controller
Bisect Results

This started happening about a week ago after having my battery replaced at the apple store. Prior to this, the menu opened instantly.

Research direction

Start by reproducing the delay on an iPhone 11 Pro running iOS 17.5.1 with RetroArch 1.19.1, using both the touchscreen menu button and controller menu hotkey after loading content. Compare the initial app opening and menu entry paths; done means the menu opens without the reported 10–15 second freeze.
