Research direction
Reproduce the failure on a clean Ubuntu Core 24 x86_64 installation using sudo snap install retroarch and sudo retroarch, then inspect the Snap packaging and startup path responsible for the D-Bus error. Done means RetroArch launches successfully from the installed Snap without requiring an X11 display workaround.
