Description

Description

When GPU Recording is enabled in Settings > Recording, every game slows down to about 50% speed if not less. This may depend on hardware configuration, but I've observed this on multiple machines. This becomes an issue for achievements, where hardcore mode explicitly disables features that slow the game down.

Expected behavior

GPU recording would run at normal speed on all hardware or would disable hardcore mode if causing slowdown.

Actual behavior

GPU recording slows games down and does not disable hardcore mode.

Steps to reproduce the bug
  • Enable GPU recording
  • Be logged into Retroachievements with hardcore mode enabled
  • Start recording while game is running
  • Earn an achievement while game is running at significantly less than full speed
Version/Commit
  • RetroArch: 1.17.0
Environment information
  • OS: SteamOS/Linux Mint
  • GPU: Steam Deck GPU/AMD Radeon RX570

Research direction

No source file, test, or entry point is named in the report. Reproduce with GPU Recording enabled on SteamOS/Linux Mint and the listed AMD hardware, then determine whether completion means restoring normal speed or disabling hardcore mode when recording causes slowdown.
