Research direction

Start by reproducing the issue on a Mi Box S 2nd Gen running Android 11, launching RetroArch 1.16.0 and a game. Compare audio and video timing with the reported synchronization settings; done means the 500–1000 ms audio latency is identified and audio and video remain synchronized.
