Description

Description

If the WiiMotes could be handled as a pointing devices it would open up for a whole new dimension for games such as point and click adventures and especially lightgun shooters.

The regular Wii-version has had this feature added here: https://github.com/libretro/RetroArch/pull/9470 from the excellent work of @Wiimpathy!

Expected behavior

The WiiMote connected would be picked up as a pointing device combined with directional pad and buttons.

Actual behavior

The connected WiiMote is only picked up as a controller.

Steps to reproduce the bug
  1. Connect a WiiMote
  2. Start retroarch from Tiramisu
  3. Check if it get picked up as pointing device in controller type

Research direction

Start by reviewing the Wii implementation in RetroArch pull request 9470 and the Wii U controller handling reached by starting RetroArch from Tiramisu. Confirm how a connected WiiMote is currently exposed as a controller, then compare it with the pointing-device behavior described here. Done means the WiiMote is available as a pointing device while retaining its directional pad and buttons.
