Description
First of all, consider this:
- Only RetroArch bugs should be filed here. No core bugs or game bugs
- This is not a forum or a help section, it is strictly development oriented
Description
[Games being in ZIP format take longer to start and to save state on my devices, USB and HDD. When it reaches 92% or 97% of the process, the game crashes, the sound keeps repeating and only returns to normal after a while. The SNESticle has support for ZIP games and does not have these delays at startup or in save state. In addition, it also supports games in 7z, but, even with the configuration indicating support, I could not run any game in this format].
Expected behavior
[Not so much delay at startup, not so much delay in save state, and adequate support for 7z]
Actual behavior
[When starting games in ZIP format, there may be a longer waiting time. When using the save state option, the game may crash or not run at all, getting stuck at a screen displaying the save state progress percentage. Also, games in 7z format will not initialize].
Steps to reproduce the bug
- [start raboot.elf from wlaunchelf or opl].
- [select core or the game in ZIP].
- [after that at some point after that at some point in the game hold "start" for 2 seconds and in the save state option or set a key on the control to perform this function It has to come Select]
Bisect Results
[this already does since some Interior versions, I waited a support for exfat thinking it could solve the problem, but no the problems with both ZIP and 7zip continues to happen and without expectation of improvement]

Research direction
Start by reproducing the ZIP and 7z behavior through raboot.elf on the PS2 platform, using the reported USB and HDD setups and cores GPSP, SNES9x2002, and PicoDrive. Check startup and save-state behavior on RetroArch 1.12.0 and 1.14.0; the work is done when ZIP loading and save states no longer hang or crash and 7z games initialize as expected.
