Description
First and foremost consider this:
- Only RetroArch bugs should be filed here. Not core bugs or game bugs
- This is not a forum or a help section, this is strictly developer oriented
Description
Tried Shin Megami Tensei´s translation patch with a compatible core and same name as the rom. But retroarch doesn´t seem to recognize it and Doesn´t trigger the message of a successful patch.
Expected behavior
Game being softpatched and retroarch triggering the message of successful patch
Actual behavior
Doesn´t softpatch and doesn´t trigger message
Steps to reproduce the bug
- Put "rom.sfc" and "rom.bps" on the same directory
- Start "rom.sfc" with a compatible core
Bisect Results
I´m at 1.14.0 stable release on wii u but i don´t know if this happens with other versions. By the way, i tried the same steps with a psvita, android, pc and those seems to work. Wii u is the only one with this bug (or feature absence, idk)

Research direction
Start by reproducing the issue on RetroArch Git version de26e07 under Wii U Tiramisu, using rom.sfc and the same-name rom.bps with a compatible core. Compare the Wii U result with the reported working behavior on PC, Android, and PS Vita. Done means the translation patch is applied and RetroArch displays the successful-patch message.
