Description
I'm aware this isn't strictly on topic, but I've seen other posts with feature requests here and figured this was the best way to get this issue seen. I do a lot of save syncing between my PC and android, and prefer to use different emulators for each. I'd really like it if it were possible for Retroarch to read and save game saves in formats other than .srm, like .sav for instance. It would be a really nice quality of life feature.

Research direction
The issue names no files, tests, or entry points. Start by locating RetroArch's save-path handling and how cores read and write save data, then define how selecting alternate formats such as .sav would work across PC and Android and how compatibility could be verified.
