Description

First and foremost consider this:

  • Only RetroArch bugs should be filed here. Not core bugs or game bugs
  • This is not a forum or a help section, this is strictly developer oriented

Description

I'm a Super Metroid Speedrunner (and I'm using a SNES9x core), and I'm trying to create a splice using ingame savestates with members of the community. We all are using the exact same practice ROM and I'm using the proper snes9x core, but when I transfer their srm file to my folder, it doesn't seem to load the save. The game is still functional, but I can't access the ingame savestate they were using. I also noticed the file size for the srm goes from 256 kb -> 128 kb WHILE I'm playing. I've turned off srm compression and autosave, so I'm not sure why it's continuing to do this.

Not sure if this makes any sense, but I'd appreciate help if you can offer it. :)

(I have the newest version of retroarch btw)

Research direction

The report mentions transferred .srm files, in-game savestates, and the SNES9x core, but names no source file, test, or entry point. Start by reproducing the transfer with the same practice ROM and core, then compare the .srm file behavior and sizes while loading the save. Done would require identifying whether RetroArch or the core prevents the transferred save from loading and documenting a verified fix.
