Description

Description

It would be very handy to be able to easily find screenshots from within a game.
I believe it'd be quite easy to implement as there is already a gallery app and screenshots files are named with the game's prefix.

Expected behavior

Be able to access a game's screenshot from the Quick Menu for example.
For example for games with passwords levels...

Actual behavior

Have to use the file explorer, find the screenshots folder, and seek for the right game files.

Version/Commit
  • RetroArch: 1.9.13 (Git fca72f67d1)
Environment information
  • OS: Lakka Generic.x86_64-devel-20211112923315-9e4af94
Related enhancements
  • Might be combined with #6393
  • If so, perhaps exclude cheevos screenshots (as they'd be accessible from their own menu)
  • Could also include screen records (as they follow the same naming pattern)

Research direction

Start by tracing the existing Quick Menu and gallery app, then inspect how screenshot files are named with a game's prefix. Define how a game-specific screenshot view should find and preview matching files without requiring the file explorer. Done means screenshots can be accessed from within the game as described; cheevos screenshots and screen records are noted as related scope.
