Description
First and foremost consider this:
- Only RetroArch bugs should be filed here. Not core bugs or game bugs
- This is not a forum or a help section, this is strictly developer oriented
Description
While running Retroarch and using creative's 'Sound Blaster Command', switching the sound output setting between desktop speakers and headphones causes the program to freeze when emulation is running (or when emulation is started back up from the menus). I'm using a sound Blaster Z sound card if this helps.
Expected behavior
audio output should change between desktop speakers and headphones without crashing the program as in other applications.
Actual behavior
Retroarch freezes, ultimately needing to be closed and restarted. This happens across all cores. Double checked on Reicast and DeSmuMe before submitting, have encountered elsewhere.
Steps to reproduce the bug
- Launch Retroarch and start emulation
- Change input via the lower left selection in the 'Sound Blaster Command' (available for download on Creative's website, used to control their sound cards)
- Look at Retroarch window frozen. (if in a menu the menu will be fine to navigate, then freez returning to emulation)

Research direction
Reproduce the freeze on Windows 10 with a Sound Blaster Z while emulation is running, using Creative's Sound Blaster Command to switch between speakers and headphones. Trace the RetroArch audio-output handling involved in that device change; done means switching output sources no longer freezes RetroArch during or after emulation.
