Description

First and foremost consider this:

  • Only RetroArch bugs should be filed here. Not core bugs or game bugs
  • This is not a forum or a help section, this is strictly developer oriented

Description

After the update today (10/3), the Steam cloud is still saving files specific to the old file structure for RetroArch. Namely: RetroArch-Linux-x86_64-Nightly.AppImage.config/retroarch/content_history.lpl, RetroArch-Linux-x86_64-Nightly.AppImage.config/retroarch/content_image_history.lpl, RetroArch-Linux-x86_64-Nightly.AppImage.config/retroarch/content_music_history.lpl, RetroArch-Linux-x86_64-Nightly.AppImage.config/retroarch/content_video_history.lpl, and playlist files, such as RetroArch-Linux-x86_64-Nightly.AppImage.config/retroarch/playlists/Sony - PlayStation.lpl. These files are not necessary and should be deleted from the cloud.

Expected behavior

I expect these files to be removed from the Steam Cloud after the file structure was changed.

Actual behavior

Old files are remaining behind with no way in-app to remove them.

Steps to reproduce the bug
  1. Install older version of RetroArch on Steam.
  2. Upgrade to new version from 10/3.
  3. Note old files are still remaining despite being unused.
Bisect Results

Issue began to occur after update on Steam today (10/3).

Research direction

Start by inspecting the Steam Cloud configuration and migration handling for the listed RetroArch-Linux-x86_64-Nightly.AppImage.config paths, including content history and playlist files. Reproduce an upgrade from the older Steam version, then verify that obsolete files are no longer retained in Steam Cloud and that current files remain available.
