Description
First and foremost consider this:
- Only RetroArch bugs should be filed here. Not core bugs or game bugs
- This is not a forum or a help section, this is strictly developer oriented
Description
The controllers are detected by RetroArch, but they don't work inside the UI or inside a game, also when setting the controller keys both controllers does not have any response.
Expected behavior
Controllers should work inside RetroArch as it does on other OSs.
Actual behavior
Both Xbox and Nintendo controllers does not respond inside RetraArch, is this a driver bug on M1 Macs? Or is it the OS fault?
Steps to reproduce the bug
- Connect your controller via Bluetooth
- Open RetrArch and it will automatically detect the controller
- Try using the controller.
Bisect Results
It happens since I tried the new retroarch for aarch64 optimized for M1 SoC. I tested the controller on this browser test (Chromium-based): https://gamepad-tester.com/ and both controllers worked, but inside RetroArch something is not working correct, probably this is a bug related to the built-in driver.

Research direction
Start by reproducing the Bluetooth controller failure on a MacBook Pro M1 running macOS 11.5.2 and RetroArch 1.9.9, then compare its behavior with the linked gamepad-tester result. Done means both controllers respond in the RetroArch UI, in a game, and during controller-key configuration.
