Description

First and foremost consider this:

  • Only RetroArch bugs should be filed here. Not core bugs or game bugs
  • This is not a forum or a help section, this is strictly developer oriented

Description

When RetroArch metal is set to launch in fullscreen on macOS (Big Sur) it opens in a different desktop, that is the current screen "slides" to reveal a new desktop where RA is displayed. It wasn't like this in earlier version.

Expected behavior

RetroArch used to open in fullscreen "over" the current desktop, without "sliding" the current desktop away.

Actual behavior

When RA opens, the desktop currently visible (for example, a frontend or a launcher, or just macOS) slides to the side to reveal a black desktop where RA is then displayed

Steps to reproduce the bug
  1. Run RA with fullscreen enabled at launch
Bisect Results

Started happening on 1.9.1 metal

Research direction

No source file, test, or entry point is named. Start by reproducing fullscreen launch with the Metal backend on macOS Big Sur and trace the macOS fullscreen path introduced around RetroArch 1.9.1. Done means launching fullscreen without sliding to a separate desktop, with regression coverage if the relevant test location is identified.
