Research direction
Start by reproducing the issue on Windows 10 with RetroArch nightly 1.9.0: update the assets, select the snow and simple snow backgrounds, and compare them with a working background. Done means both affected backgrounds render normally instead of appearing entirely white; the missing version, commit, and bisect information still need to be supplied.
