Description
Description
The SEGA Genesis Mini controller stopped working on WiiU ever since 1.7.0, when Controller Patching was disabled and replaced with the current HID implementation. I have messed with autoconfig .cfg files, to no avail however. I have tried other USB controllers as well and the only ones that seem to be working are the Gamecube Controller (through the official adapter) and the DualShock 3. I believe a driver would have to be written for this specific controller though I am not sure.
Expected behavior
Controller should be detected when starting RetroArch in the little notification area in the bottom left are of the screen and should be usable to navigate menus and play games.
Actual behavior
Controller is not even detected, let alone be able to be used for playing games.
Steps to reproduce the bug
- Copy RetroArch to WiiU SD card.
- Launch RetroArch.
- Try to see if the controller is being detected (it is not)
Bisect Results
This started happening ever since version 1.7.0 hit, when Controller Patching was removed due to "instability" and replaced with the current HID implementation.
Version/Commit
- RetroArch: 1.9.0 , nightly 02/03/2020
Environment information
- OS: WiiU

Research direction
Start by comparing the WiiU controller handling before and after version 1.7.0, when Controller Patching was replaced by the current HID implementation. Reproduce the issue with a SEGA Genesis Mini controller and verify that it is detected in the notification area and can navigate menus and play games.
