Description
Description
On Xbox One or Series S/X consoles, selecting "Close Content" on certain Cores causes RA to Crash, making it impossible to create Game/Core overrides on FlyCast, DuckStation, Dolphin and their games. Seems to mainly occur with anything that uses Hardware Acceleration.
Expected behavior
Either for "Close Content" to NOT crash, or for "Save Core Overrides" / "Save Game Overrides" to actually save the config file without having to select "Close Content" for the file to write.
Actual behavior
After configuring a Core and selecting the option "Save Core Overrides" or "Save Game Overrides", then selecting "Close Content" causes RetroArch to crash to dashboard on FlyCast, DuckStation, Dolphin, and possibly others.
Steps to reproduce the bug
- Load any game on FlyCast, DuckStation or Dolphin
- Open the Quick Menu and select "Close Content"
- Witness RetroArch Crashing
OR
- Load any game on FlyCast, DuckStation or Dolphin
- Open the Quick Menu, change a number of Core Options
- Select "Create Game Options File"
- Navigate to Overrides and select "Save Core Overrides" or "Save Game Overrides".
- Select "Close Content" to apply changes, and witness RetroArch Crash.
- Attempt to load the game again to find that none of your changes have applied.
Bisect Results
This has always been a problem on Xbox One/Series consoles.

Research direction
Start by reproducing the Quick Menu "Close Content" crash on Xbox One/Series S/X with FlyCast, DuckStation, or Dolphin, then trace the close-content and override-saving paths. Done means closing content no longer crashes and the saved core or game override is present when the game is loaded again.
