It is expected that Retroarch starts reading 3DO and Neogeo CDs after choosing DVD/CD drive
Actual behavior
Retroarch crashes and doesn't make any kind of reading CD noise, like we can observe in PS1, PC Engine, Sega CD and Saturn

- Insert the disc on drive
- Choose Opera or Neo CD Core
- Choose the CD/DVD drive

Research direction
Start by reproducing the crash on Windows with a real 3DO or Neo Geo CD, using the Opera or Neo CD core and selecting the CD/DVD drive. Trace the failure from that reproduction; done means both cores begin reading the discs without crashing, with behavior comparable to the other listed CD-based cores.
