Research direction

Start by reproducing the failure on Wii using RetroArch 1.9.0 with the listed CPS1, CPS2, CPS3, FB Alpha, and FB Neo Geo content, then compare it with 1.8.4 where loading works. The issue is resolved when those cores load content without a black screen or returning to the Homebrew Channel.
