What happened

What happened

With LibrePods installed, media audio (Spotify, YouTube, etc.) stops working after any Bluetooth reconnect — but only after the first pairing following an AirPods reset.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Reset AirPods 4, pair fresh. Media audio works fine.
  2. Disconnect and reconnect Bluetooth (either disabling manually via Android's Bluetooth settings, or by putting the AirPods back in the case and taking them out again).
  3. Try to play audio again — no sound through the AirPods.

At this point, Bluetooth is still shown as connected with the full set of options, and LibrePods correctly detects the AirPods and its own features (listening mode, etc.) work fine. Only media audio is missing.

Tried and didn't help: manual disconnect/reconnect via Bluetooth settings, "forget device" + re-pair (without full airpods reset), disabling Fast Pair, disabling A2DP hardware offload, disabling absolute volume, updating AirPods firmware.

Only fix: a full AirPods reset + fresh pairing — but the issue returns after the next reconnect.

Confirmed it's LibrePods-related: uninstalling LibrePods entirely and repeating the same reconnect steps (including case-triggered) never causes the issue. Reinstalling LibrePods brings it back.

Expected: Media audio should keep working after a normal reconnect, without needing a full AirPods reset.

Android Build Nr.: CP2A.260705.006

Research direction

Start by reproducing the reconnect sequence on the listed Pixel 8 Pro, Android 17, and AirPods 4 setup with LibrePods 0.2.9-play installed, then inspect the Bluetooth reconnect path and native L2CAP behavior. Done means media audio remains available after both settings-based and case-triggered reconnects without resetting the AirPods.
