Description

Sometimes after the AirPods connect to the phone the listening mode controls stop working in both directions:

  • Tapping a mode button in the app moves the visual selector to that button but the AirPods stay in their current mode.
  • Live Update notification keeps showing the same label (e.g. "Off").
  • Changing the mode on the AirPods themselves (gesture / stem) does not reflect in the app and no popup fires.

Putting the AirPods in the case, closing it, letting them disconnect, then reconnecting sometimes fixes it. Sometimes only after multiple tries.

Tested on Oppo Find X9 Pro with ColorOS 16, AirPods Pro 3.

I will attach logs the next time it happens.

Research direction

No files, tests, or entry points are named. First reproduce the failure after the AirPods connect and capture the promised logs, then compare app mode controls, Live Update labels, and AirPods gesture events. Done means mode changes work in both directions and the app state and popup update without requiring repeated reconnection.
