Description

I'm getting The SSL certificate is invalid (Rugged::SslError) error when trying to fetch from a git server with self-signed certificate.

Is there any way to ignore the SSL certificate? Setting http.sslVerify to false doesn't seem to work as well.

Research direction

Start by reproducing the fetch against a git server using a self-signed certificate, then inspect how Rugged handles http.sslVerify. Check whether the setting is read or ignored, and consider the SSL error path. Done means the documented setting reliably controls certificate verification for this case.
