Description

I'm using pygit2 via battenberg project:

  File "/Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/3.7/lib/python3.7/site-packages/pygit2/callbacks.py", line 471, in get_credentials
    raise TypeError("invalid credential type")
TypeError: invalid credential type

Is it expected to find credentials in a specific format?
Could it be related to https://github.com/libgit2/pygit2/issues/1013#issuecomment-679200156

Research direction

Read callbacks.py at get_credentials line 471 and compare the related libgit2/pygit2 issue 1013 comment; then reproduce the reported Python 3.7 traceback through battenberg. Done means determining the accepted credential format and whether this error is the same issue, with a focused regression test if the repository provides one.
