Description
Hi, thx for the amazing library :)
Expected Behavior
I would like to get the next (canary) version ahead of the actual lerna release command so that I can build the version info into my React app.
Current Behavior
N/A
Context

Research direction
The issue names no files or tests. Start by tracing the CI flow around the lerna release command and determine how a canary version could be obtained beforehand. Done means the version is available early enough to be included in a React app's build.
