Research direction

Start by tracing the sound component and how it invokes browser audio playback, using the Chrome 66 autoplay failure described in the linked Stack Overflow question as context. Done should mean the component exposes a usable mute or equivalent playback option and sound can be used in the reported Chrome scenario.
