Overview
We are creating additional spaces within the Kolibri Studio platform to prompt users to donate to Learning Equality, including:
- The user should be presented with an option to donate to Learning Equality on the Kolibri Studio sign-in page.
- The existing Recommendations banner that lives on the My Channels, Starred, View-Only, and Channel editor pages will be replaced with a donation request banner
- The new banner will be additionally added to the Kolibri Library page.
There will be 2-3 variations of the banner presented to A/B test framing.
Description and outcomes
Why? If the donation button is more visible to users, they will be more likely to donate. The community may also not be aware that there are significant costs that go towards hosting and maintaining Studio, and sharing that awareness alongside a donation button may elicit contributions.
Outcomes:
- Text requesting a donation, with 2-3 variations for A/B testing (Framing variations: Charitable giving / Contributing to hosting costs / Contributing to maintenance costs), and either a link to the existing donate page or the donate page embedded directly. Variations for text.
- A banner that displays the text, with one variation on the log-in page and another variation on the pages inside Kolibri Studio post-login
- Filtering of the message such that it only displays for users in the U.S.
- Text is reviewed by comms for sign-off before finalizing

- We will be pulling from existing requirements that were scoped for the Recommendations banner
AI usage
I used AI to help me create the table. I also used AI to adapt the existing donation text request for Studio and edited the copy.

The issue does not name implementation files, tests, or entry points. Start by locating the sign-in page, the existing Recommendations banner, and the Kolibri Library page; done means approved donation messaging appears in the specified locations, supports the described variations, and is limited to users in the U.S.
