Description

This issue is not open for contribution. Visit Contributing guidelines to learn about the contributing process and how to find suitable issues.

Observed behavior

  1. After a successful subscription we are showing a green Storage increased to N GB banner with an X icon. This is incorrect as the storage is not increased to N GB, it's increased to the initial 500 MB + the additional N value. Also the X icon doesn't have a tooltip like 'Close' so it's not immediately clear to the user what will happen when they click on it (possible slight confusion whether it will not result in cancelling the subscription).
  2. After a successful subscription/cancellation we are currently not sending an email to the user which is pretty much a standard procedure.
  3. It should be possible to buy more storage at any given time (other than going through the 'Request more space' form).
  4. After cancelling the subscription we are notifying the user that the storage will be removed after the expiration with the following short sentence Storage will be removed after that. This is a bit scary as it's not clear at all how the storage will be removed, especially if the user has public channels. Typically the user should also be notified prior to the expiration so that they are aware of potential problems. Currently there's no way to test that scenario.
  5. After successful cancellation we are still showing the text 'N GB included in your subscription' right below Subscription cancelled. In this case the text should be changed to something like 'Your additional storage of N GB is still available until the expiration of your subscription'.
  6. While the form is loading, there's always a big black rectangle while the user should only be seeing the loading icon

Research direction

Start by reproducing the six behaviors in Studio Unstable through Settings > Storage, following the linked pull request instructions. The expected behavior is still to be discussed and specified, so completion criteria, affected areas, and a way to test expiration notifications need to be established first.
