Description

Observed behavior

  1. When there are no channels, the text 'No channels found' is positioned too close to the banner and in general looks even plainer than before, next to that cool looking banner so it would be nice to improve the presentation overall:

  1. When I am creating a new channel then there's just not enough data to generate actually relevant recommendations and also the recommendations can either be at the bottom of the page in smaller resolutions (making it hard to see them) or at the right of the screen but not with a prominent 'Recommendations' label (as the user would expect based on the wording 'our new 'Recommendations' feature). Essentially the problem is that when we are actively advertising something we should be advertising it in the best light possible, while with the current approach that might not be the case in some scenarios!

  1. For consistency it should be always possible to close the banner. :)

Research direction

Start by reproducing the banner behavior in Studio Unstable with a new account, following the My Channels, Starred and View-only flow and creating a new channel. Before coding, clarify the expected presentation for empty channels, recommendations placement and labeling, and banner dismissal; completion requires agreement on those behaviors and verification at different screen sizes.
