Observed behavior

Opening this issue as a container for QA feedback/observations, which can either be completely disregarded (if these are known) or serve as the basis for additional improvements.

  1. When I go to "Import from other channels I am getting recommendations just based on the title and language of the channel. In my case this was Channel 2, so I would say that all the recommendations were irrelevant. In this case I think it's better not to show any recommendations until there is sufficient data.
  2. I also had an Untitled (Missing title) folder. When I tried to import content to it the recommendations were for " (fixed in https://github.com/learningequality/studio/pull/5338):

  1. Next I kept the folder's title to Untitled (Missing title) and added description to the folder containing terms for musical instruments. This time I had the correct recommendations for music related resources but when I added them, I kept getting the same 2 resources, while resources which are already added should no longer be shown:

  1. When changing the language/description of the folder and then going back to the search recommendations I am not always getting the correct results, but will have to add additional info on replicating that.
  2. It seems that it will be more appropriate to show the recommendations for single resources only when the user is importing within a folder and not when the user is coming from the main topic tree:

  1. Getting recommendations in incorrect language. When I tried to import more resources in a folder with Bulgarian content for which the Language value was not set to Bulgarian then it showed me irrelevant recommendations in Ukrainian:

  1. I would expect the recommendations to change/disappear after applying additional search filters while currently they remain the same:

Expected behavior

To be further discussed.

Research direction

Start with the Hotfixes reproduction steps and review pull requests #5318 and #5338 for the recommendation behavior and the already-fixed untitled-folder case. The issue has no named files or tests, and its expected behavior is still to be discussed; done would require agreed scope and verified outcomes for the listed observations.
