Description

This issue is not open for contribution. Visit Contributing guidelines to learn about the contributing process and how to find suitable issues.

Current behavior

Currently, creating new folders opens the edit modal, and also pops over the bulk editing modal if there are existing categories on the parent that we want the user to be able to apply

Desired behavior

Simplifying the experience to either use inline or just the quick edit modal (or some other related type of workflow)

Value add

Faster editing/tree creation

Research direction

The issue names no files, tests, or entry points and is explicitly not open for contribution. Start by reviewing the current new-folder flow, including the edit and bulk-edit modals. Done would mean an agreed, implemented workflow that avoids the unnecessary modal sequence and has its behavior verified.
