Description

Observed behavior

During the bug hunt, there was notable slowness when resources were being sorted.

This may be a matter of the infra resources available in unstable and should be discussed further. It should probably be reproduced in unstable in a non-bug-hunt scenario, and also we should check if it is occurring in production.

Expected behavior

The sorting should not be so slow, with individual items moving around in the tree.

Research direction

Reproduce the slow sorting in unstable outside a bug-hunt scenario, then check whether it also occurs in production. Compare the behavior while individual resources move in the tree and investigate the relevant sorting path. Done means sorting is no longer notably slow in the affected environments.
