Description

Yo, check it: Lando was straight-up the GOAT for wranglin’ local dev environments, especially for monorepos that are, like, a total mess of different frameworks and runtimes. It was low-key clutch, keepin’ everything smooth and vibin’ without breakin’ a sweat. No cap, it was the plug for devs who needed to juggle all that chaos and still keep it šŸ’Æ. But now, Devtool’s steppin’ up as Lando’s successor, and I’m here to stan it hard. We gotta make Devtool the ultimate monorepo beast with first-class support for those wild, multi-framework, multi-runtime setups. Plus, we need to flex it in the marketing—let the world know Devtool’s the new king for monorepo dev, periodt.

Proposal

I’m droppin’ this issue to push for Devtool to level up with first-class monorepo support. Here’s the tea:

Monorepo Magic: Devtool needs to handle monorepos like a boss, supporting a ton of frameworks (React, Vue, Angular, you name it) and runtimes (Node, PHP, Python, etc.) in one repo, no drama. Think Lando’s ease but with next-gen sauce.

Features We Need:

  • Seamless config for multiple projects in a monorepo, no clunky workarounds.
  • Hella fast builds and task execution, maybe with caching vibes like Turborepo or Nx.
  • Support for dope CI/CD pipelines that play nice with monorepo workflows.
  • Easy-peasy environment setup for devs to jump in and start slangin’ code.
  • Marketing Flex: We gotta hype Devtool as the tool for monorepo devs. Drop some slick blogs, tutorials, and social posts on X to show how it slays the monorepo game. Make it clear Devtool’s out here solvin’ the chaos of poly-framework repos while keepin’ it chill.

Why This Matters

Monorepos are the wave rn—Google, Meta, and Microsoft are all ridin’ it. Devtool can be the one-stop shop for devs who want a single repo to rule ā€˜em all without the headaches. Lando was already poppin’ for this, but Devtool can take it to the moon with better tooling and a marketing glow-up that screams ā€œwe got you, fam.ā€

Could we make Devtool the monorepo MVP? Let’s get this bread! šŸž

Research direction

No files, tests, or entry points are named. Start by reviewing the repository structure and existing Devtool capabilities, then narrow the proposal to a concrete monorepo change with acceptance criteria; the marketing work should be scoped separately.
