Description
We want to move engine-agnostic (not dependent on DataFusion) operations to lance-table. Right now Transaction and write_fragments are in lance, which takes a whole lot of time to compile. Moving this earlier should save some time in compilation. Plus, when changing things in lance, they won't need to be re-compiled.
write_fragments does need SendableRecordBatchStream, which comes from datafusion-execution, but that's a pretty minor dependency.
