Description

This package depends on selective < 0.7 and that does not compile with ghc-9.6.

I am currently getting around this in my cabal.project file using:

if impl(ghc >= 9.6)
  allow-newer:
    , validation-selective:selective

to allow the use of selective == 0.7.

Research direction

Start by locating the package dependency declaration for selective and compare its upper bound with the GHC 9.6 compatibility described in the issue. Verify the package builds with GHC 9.6 without the cabal.project allow-newer workaround, and run the existing test suite if available.
