Description
Rewriting the core of this with [rtmidi](https://github.com/thestk/rtmidi), in C/rust/nelua/nim/etc, would make a much smaller CLI program, and that could then be used in NAPI, if I need node-support. This would resolve build-issues (like #6 ) and make building easier (which I think would help with pkg issues.)
The improved sequencer could also be ported to C/etc with a "Virtual Port" and realtime messages.

Research direction
The issue names no files or tests. Start by reviewing the current core and the build problems referenced in #6, then evaluate whether an rtmidi-based C, Rust, or Nim CLI can support the proposed virtual port and realtime messages. Done would require a defined rewrite scope and a clear decision on NAPI and Node.js support.
