Description
As part of some funding requests there is an (optional) ask as to whether our software is certified FOSS. OpenSSF has a fairly popular self-certification procedure that I have started at https://www.bestpractices.dev/en/projects/11558/passing
Some of the questions are technical in nature and I could not address. There's no deadline as to when this should be completed, but if anyone versed enough in our codebase could pitch in (hopefully directly) that would be nice.

Start with the OpenSSF Best Practices self-certification page linked in the issue, then review the codebase to identify and answer the technical questions that remain unresolved. Done means the relevant requirements have been addressed and the self-certification is completed.
