The caret setting is not permanent

Preferences - Settings - text - caret. After modifying the caret shape, the current reply is valid and the new reply is invalid. It needs to be modified again.

Start by reproducing the problem through Preferences > Settings > text > caret, comparing the current reply with a new reply after changing the caret shape. Trace where this preference is saved and where reply validity is checked; done means the changed caret setting remains effective and both reply states behave correctly.
