bug: spacebar not getting registered in Subtitle Edit

### Describe the bug

Unable to use `spacebar` in [Subtitle Edit](https://github.com/SubtitleEdit/subtitleedit). Pressing it fails to get registered and nothing happens. I suspect the issue is not keyboard-specific as I've tried different keyboards and the issue remains. In the below screenshot, I've entered a space between the words `മലയാളം` and `Malayalam` and it doesn't show up.

1. Open Subtitle Edit v5+
2. Press the `spacebar` using any Keyman keyboard in Text field

No source file, test, or entry point is named. First reproduce the issue on Windows 11 in Subtitle Edit v5+ with the Keyman Windows mozhi_malayalam keyboard, comparing Spacebar with Shift+Spacebar. Done means a normal Spacebar inserts a space in the Subtitle Edit text field without breaking the reported behavior.
