*Desperately* need spell-checking inside chat, and also ability to disable smileys etc

I can't spell to save my life, and your chat mechanism is wrecking my ability to be taken seriously - come on guys - this is an EASY quick fix - throw it in!!!

Also, your annoying chat UX is destroying all the code I paste in there to share with my team - please please PLEASE give us a way to totally disable that silliness. Everyone knows what :-) means - you don't have to convert any of those into graphics etc anyhow.

No files, tests, or entry points are named. Start by reproducing the chat behavior described: spell-checking, smiley conversion, and pasted code handling. Done would require an agreed scope and verification that spell-checking works and users can disable the unwanted chat transformations without damaging pasted code.
