Description

I get Error: Passphrase check failed when I try to add my private key at the "Private key encrypt and upload" dialog on keybase.io . The passphrase I'm using is exactly the same one I needed to enter when running `gpg --export-secret-keys -a 1E8B3E346BD2D91B394BD6A9483963B3FF487BFB` (and I tried many many times). What's breaking?

PS: Everything is fine on my ubuntu keybase app.

Research direction

Reproduce the failure in the keybase.io “Private key encrypt and upload” dialog using the reported GPG export command and passphrase, then compare it with the Ubuntu Keybase app where the reporter says it succeeds. Done means identifying why the web dialog rejects a passphrase that works in the app and documenting or correcting that behavior.
