Description

Okay. I have a drive with the letter K in my PC and I wanted to try out the windows version of Keybase. I installed and wanted login and then realized that my drives icon changed and looked at the screenshot on the windows DL page.
My hard drive didn't get corrupted or anything. Is there a way to make keybase use a different letter? Also, how the F do I change the icon back??? xDD

Now I'm scared of uninstalling keybase again... I don't want that it deletes my K drive

EDIT: You can change the icon by opening regedit and going to Computer\HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Applications\Explorer.exe\Drives and deleting K.

Research direction

Start by reviewing the linked screenshot and reproducing the Windows installation with an existing K drive. Investigate how the client chooses its drive letter and how uninstall handles that drive mapping. Done means the installer avoids an occupied letter, preserves the existing drive and icon, and does not delete the user’s drive during uninstall.
