Description
I currently have Keybase setup on an android device, and I am trying to add my linux computer to the account. First I tried adding it using my gui, selecting 'add new desktop' on my phone, and scanning the qr code, but nothing happened. After trying several times I did the same thing using the cli (keybase login), and was able to see the error "ERROR device name already in use".
It looks like the gui client does not surface this error. Interestingly, this device name does not show up under my list of devices on any of my clients.

Research direction
Reproduce the device-add flow from the GUI using “add new desktop” and compare it with the keybase login CLI entry point. Investigate why the GUI does not surface “device name already in use” and verify the behavior against the device lists on the available clients; done means the conflict is reported consistently and the outcome is testable.
