Description

I was trying to install the Kybase client under Win10 on a system with multiple users. What I did was the following:

  1. Installing it in with a non-admin account. Result: It worked only for this account.
  2. Uninstalling it.
  3. Installing it in an admin account. Result: Not available in non-admin account.
  4. Uninstalling it.
  5. Installing it it again in non-admin account: Result: Keybase client has a red message under "folder": "Your keybase folders are currently not showing up in your Explorer". When I click on "Display in Explorer", I get a dialog with the message "Press 'Repair' to see files in Explorer". When I click 'Repair', after some time an open file box appears pointing to my download directory with "Keybase_1.0.33-20171003150842+ea019b3.386.exe" as the file name. Obviously no such file exists in this location. Choosing the downloaded setup.exe instead worked.

Research direction

The report names no source files or tests. Start by reproducing the multi-user Windows installation sequence and the Explorer Repair flow, then locate the installer and repair entry points. Done means the reported installation and Repair failures are reproducible, addressed, and covered by verification for both user scopes.
