broken chat after starting chat with file sharing

Description
A friend who I'd not previously chatted with via Keybase Chat started a chat by trying to share a file with me. This has resulted in me seeing indication of an unread chat, but no chat thread is listed for me with that friend. If I view folders, I see a listing between my friend and I, but when I try clicking on "Open in chat" for that folder, I get a message: no valid message in the conversation
This is in the same state on both of my computers.
