Description

Steps

  1. Attempt first login after installation, decline camera permissions initially
  2. Without closing app: go back, re-enter username, approve camera permissions
  3. Scan QR code on Mac client
  4. Add device name, click "Continue"

Behavior

Device is added to "List of Devices" on Mac client, phone freezes for ~60+ seconds. I got impatient and started pressing buttons to go to the home screen, which were initially unresponsive. Eventually closed Keybase on Android, went through the login process again, and a duplicate device was added to "List of Devices" on Mac client. I then revoked the first one, and stayed logged in.

Research direction

Start by reproducing the first-login flow on the Nexus 6P with Android 7.1.2 and the Mac client: decline camera permission, retry login, approve it, scan the QR code, and continue. Compare the device list and phone responsiveness after one attempt; done means the phone does not freeze and the Mac client adds only one device.
