Research direction
Start by reviewing the log identified as f39cd5cd57976f32d6f0f21c and reproduce the fresh Homebrew installation on OS X 10.12.3. Trace the desktop application's identify UI registration until the "EOF from server" error is understood; done means the error no longer occurs during a fresh install.
