Description

Hi there! I noticed that Keybase is showing up in my list of "Apps Using Significant Energy" on macOS Sierra. I looked in the Activity Monitor, and it shows one of its helper processes requires the high performance GPU. Is this actually necessary, and is there anything that can be done to change that?

Thanks!

Research direction

No source file, test, or entry point is identified in the issue. Start by reproducing the report in macOS Sierra with Activity Monitor and determine which Keybase helper process requests the high-performance GPU. Done means establishing whether that GPU use is necessary and documenting or implementing a way to avoid the resulting battery drain.
