Description

Getting this error on Linux with GUI client (1.0.17-20160816160049.f27f469) on tryig to login for first time on a new machine (ubuntu 14.04) - screenshot below.

Seems to be exactly same as #3135

Trying to login via the kebase cli command gave a much more useful error message:

▶ ERROR Sorry, your account is already established with a PGP public key, but this
utility cannot find the corresponding private key on this machine.
This is the fingerprint of the PGP key in your account:

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

You need to prove you're you. We suggest one of the following:

Research direction

Start by comparing the GUI client's first-login flow with the more specific error from the kebase CLI command, then review the referenced issue #3135. Done means the Linux GUI no longer shows only “There was an error provisioning” and instead explains the missing PGP private key or provides equivalent recovery guidance.
